The Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Social Work has been established in 2005 on the background of the former University College for Teacher Training (set up in 1998).

The faculty provides four main specializations: Psychology; The pedagogy of primary and preschool education within this specialization the future educators for preschool and primary school are formed; The special psycho-pedagogy is a specialization for the workers in the special educational system orientated on children with special needs, a strong emphasis being put on the inclusive education; The social work specialization covers a constant demand on the social field for qualified workers in relation with disadvantaged social groups.

At the end of the study period the students obtain a Bachelor Degree and they can attend different Master Programmes.

Other programme offered by the faculty is the continuing training for the teachers from primary school and preschool finalized with an exam and a certificate recognised by the Ministry of Education and Research.

The theoretical courses of the faculty are completed by many practical didactical stages in schools and kindergartners, in special education institutions, in foster homes, asylums, prisons etc. In this context the students have the opportunity to acquire (along with their theoretical background) the practical experience needed on the labour market. The faculty benefits of the excellent material basis of the „Aurel Vlaicu” University.

The Faculty is located within the new building of the university. They can use 2 amphitheatres, 10 seminaries classrooms, 1 laboratory for ICT with full access to the Internet. The students have also access to the University’s Library „Cornelia Bodea”, to the new building for sports and to the social services offered form them: dormitories.
